Welcome to the Westfield 'Our Bigger Story' website. This is part of the multi media evaluation of 15 Big Local areas in England. The website is an opportunity to follow what is changing in Westfield as a result of Big Local over a ten year period.

The aim of the website is to share the learning from everything that is happening in Westfield with other Big Local areas and highlight what works in communities with a wider audience of practitioners and policy makers.

  • November 30, 2017 Film

    Residents of Westfield, Sheffield, describe the journey they have been on to take over management of the local community centre, and some of the activities and campaigns Big Local is supporting. These include a community cafe, a local football team and their vision to create a local park. The community hub is the only community space in the area and the partnership has high hopes for attracting activities and community involvement, as well as ensuring it's financial sustainability.

    The Department of Town and Regional Planning’s Community Engagement Initiative was launched in October 2013 and involves staff and students working with residents in Westfield, a disadvantaged community in South-East Sheffield, to help them plan a sustainable future for their local area.

    The Westfield Big Local Interim Plan presents the partnership’s key actions for the period 2015-18. Building on the Community Profile priorities include the development of a community hub. Opportunities for adult education, play-schemes (5-12 year olds), advice work and developing a calendar of community events.
