Welcome to the Grassland Hasmoor 'Our Bigger Story' website. This is part of the multi media evaluation of 15 Big Local areas in England. The website is an opportunity to follow what is changing in Grassland Hasmoor as a result of Big Local over a ten year period.

The aim of the website is to share the learning from everything that is happening in Grassland Hasmoor with other Big Local areas and highlight what works in communities with a wider audience of practitioners and policy makers.

    GHBL is supporting families through the pandemic with food bags. They have done this during the school holidays by providing bags with everything you need to make a meal.

    Fairs and events may be cancelled and lights switched on with no audience but GHBL will still create the magic! They are encouraging as many people as possible to put Christmas lights up in their windows through a local competition.

    Grassland Hasmoor Big Local ensured that people could celebrate VE Day despite the lockdown. Everyone was encouraged to take afternoon tea in their own front garden.

    GHBL Open Forum took place on Saturday 14th March and gave local residents of Grassmoor and Hasland a chance to meet their local Partnership Board members, speak to the various working groups about the projects they are involved in and learn about the success stories of 2019-2020 including an amazing £491,698.15 additional funding secured for the area.

    Members of Thurnscoe, Big Warsop and Elmton, Cresswell and Hodthorpe Big Locals attended the GHBL Autumn Network Event 2016. The event included a mini bus tour of the GHBL area, presentations by the groups to the groups & a pie and peas lunch.

    Community Cinema brings the love of film to the heart of the community. GHBL invited families to enjoy a film together, in a warm, friendly environment. This event was sponsored by GHBL in partnership with Grassmoor Community Centre.

    On 24/9/2016,Grassmoor Community Centre opened it's doors to GHBL's 1st Super Kitchen - the Pit Stop Diner. 75 residents of both communities came together to share a home cooked, low-cost meal, followed by art & crafts and the Community Cinema.

    During the summer holiday 2016 Grassland Hasmoor Big Local sponsored picnics and activities in Barns Park, Grassmoor and Eastwood Park, Hasland. The events took place on two days of each of a five weeks period in both parks, a total of 20 days.

    Hasland Gala photos, Eastwood Park Sunday 12th June. Gate counters registered over 4000 visitors on two of the five entrances. The Mayor and Mayoress attended the Gala and opened the petanque piste. GHBL was promoted throughout the day.

    Mill Lane Allotments, Grassmoor, held their annual Open Day on Saturday 6th August. The event was supported by various local charity groups and GHBL. Mill Lane Allotments hosted GHBL to create the setting for community engagement.

    Grassland Hasmoor Big Local volunteers were much in evidence from set up to take down and throughout the day our volunteers were out and about flying the flag for Big Local. Lots of people visited the big red tent to find out more about Big Local.

    GHBL had a community focus in Grassmoor, we needed a similar facility in Hasland. We signed the lease on 3rd August. Unit 2 Penmore Business Park needed renovation and furnishing. Ribbon was cut by GHBL Chairman, Steven Wright.
