Welcome to the Grassland Hasmoor 'Our Bigger Story' website. This is part of the multi media evaluation of 15 Big Local areas in England. The website is an opportunity to follow what is changing in Grassland Hasmoor as a result of Big Local over a ten year period.

The aim of the website is to share the learning from everything that is happening in Grassland Hasmoor with other Big Local areas and highlight what works in communities with a wider audience of practitioners and policy makers.

  • Grassland Hasmoor Big Local: connecting older people
    August 17, 2023      Film
    Every Thursday, GHBL opens up its community hub in Hasland to older people. Chair based exercise, games and an opportunity to develop IT skills are on offer, along with much valued time to meet friends and socialise. The sessions are run by volunteers who are trained to deliver safe and meaningful activities. In this film, some of the residents discuss what the sessions mean to them, and a partnership member talks about how he and other volunteers make things happen for Big Local residents.
  • Grassland Hasmoor - Creating Community Facilities

    This film charts the setting up of two community hubs - one each in the villages of Hasland and Grassmoor. Contributors explain the need for community space and the ways in which each of the hubs meets the needs of the two communities.

    This is a podacst of a conversation with Barbara Arrandale - a founding resident member of the Big Local partnership and now a director of Grassland Hasmoor Futures - the Big Local LTO. She speaks about the growth and strength of resident led change in the area.
  • Grassland Hasmoor Big Local - the achievements of its Green and Open Spaces Working group

    The Green and Open Spaces Working Group is one of several Big Local working groups. In the film, the chair of the working group takes us on a tour of the area and the changes that have been made to green space, walking routes and parks. Hundreds of volunteers have made all these changes happen, alongside partnership working with four different local authorities and other community groups and environmental agencies.
