Welcome to the Ambition Lawrence Weston 'Our Bigger Story' website. This is part of the multi media evaluation of 15 Big Local areas in England. The website is an opportunity to follow what is changing in Lawrence Weston as a result of Big Local over a ten year period.
The aim of the website is to share the learning from everything that is happening in Lawrence Weston with other Big Local areas and highlight what works in communities with a wider audience of practitioners and policy makers.
This film records the work of Lawrence Weston Big Local and Ambition Lawrence Weston to improve the local environment. This includes new green energy initiatives, environmentally friendly housing, better green spaces and tackling fuel poverty
Change all around Lawrence Weston records the needs and aspirations of local residents for improved green spaces and community facilities, green energy, housing choice, better transport, and an improved shopping offer. These informed the Big Local plans as well as the community and neighbourhood development plans. The film also captures what has been done so far in responding to those needs and hopes for the future
This film records the impact Lawrence Weston Big Local and the projects it supports is having on the lives of some local residents " from reducing isolation to providing opportunities to return to work.
Having achieved 70% of their first community plan, Ambition Lawrence Weston and Lawrence Weston Big Local launched their second plan " A Joint Responsibility for Our Community " at an event in the youth centre on 28th June 2018. This has nine ambitious objectives around housing developments, improving transport links. Employment, health and wellbeing, public spaces, community energy, local facilities and children and young people. This film focuses, particularly, on whet the idea of resident led change means in Lawrence Weston from the perspective of elected members, delivery partners and local residents.

The Lawrence Weston Christmas Event was organised by a group of residents. Months of hard work, stress and sleepless nights rewarded by the good feedback received from residents. The event was a great success and brought the community together.
This film by Bristol Energy Cooperative, describes the development of a solar farm. This is part of a wider green energy initiative in the area and the investment is expected to bring a social return for the residents.

This film was made during a community day on the local urban farm. In it projects talk about how they plan to make a difference for young people and impact on local environmental and housing issues.
This short film is an animation which summarises The Neighbourhood Development Plan for Lawrence Weston, with a referendum on its future in February 2017. The Plan informed the development of Big Local actions on the estate.

In 2012 Ambition Lawrence Weston was formed - a development trust designed to place residents at the heart of the redevelopment of their area. This film documents the community planning day and the aims of the new trust.
