Welcome to the Westfield 'Our Bigger Story' website. This is part of the multi media evaluation of 15 Big Local areas in England. The website is an opportunity to follow what is changing in Westfield as a result of Big Local over a ten year period.
The aim of the website is to share the learning from everything that is happening in Westfield with other Big Local areas and highlight what works in communities with a wider audience of practitioners and policy makers.
Westfield Big Local has now come to an end and residents have handed the community centre back to the local authority. However, community activity is contimuing through Westfield Community Group, a new charity set up as a legacy body to Big Local. In this film, partnership members talk about what Big Local has meant to them and their hopes for the future.
Westfield Big Local was awarded over £70,000 to help improve the shopping area and encourage more people to use the local shops. This Easter Extravanganza was one of three events to attract local residents and increase footfall in the shopping area.

This film covers the opening event of a resident led project which has been several years in the making. The creation of Westfield Play Park illustrates the significance of resident inspiration and determination, and how things get done when a range of people work together in the interets of the community.
Residents of Westfield, Sheffield, describe taking over management of the local community centre, and some of the activities and campaigns Big Local is supporting. These include a community cafe, a football team and a local park.
