Welcome to the Northfleet North 'Our Bigger Story' website. This is part of the multi media evaluation of 15 Big Local areas in England. The website is an opportunity to follow what is changing in Northfleet North as a result of Big Local over a ten year period.
The aim of the website is to share the learning from everything that is happening in Northfleet North with other Big Local areas and highlight what works in communities with a wider audience of practitioners and policy makers.
This film tells Peter's story: a local Northfleet resident who founded the secret Garden community business, then joined the Big Local partnership, became the chair and then went on to become a local councillor and the Mayor of Gravesham.

Northfleet Fun Day on 30th August 2021 was the first large scale Big Local event for two years - following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. This film is a record of the day and local residents, Big Local partners and workers describe on the day on why this community event was important and then reflect on how the Fun Day went and what had changed, following the pandemic, from previous years.
Having chatted to people on my daily walk about and the weekly foodbank it became apparent that some people were struggling with being cooped up in blocks of flats and were starting to feel anxious and some were even scared to go shopping ...so messages of positivity were the next step. With the creation of Ebbsfleet Garden City there are major " and rapid " changes happening surrounding the Northfleet Big Local area. The North Northfleet summer celebration was held on 18th July 2015. The aim of the day was to publicise Big Local and to celebrate its successes over the year.
Peter Scollard talks about his social enterprise No Walls Garden. Peter is an UnLtd Star People Award Winner. Star People is a partnership between UnLtd and Local Trust offering Awards from £500 for people living in Big Local Areas.
